Wilson is rightly proud of the late 70s when the Heart siblings were hailed as a female Page and Plant. She is less enthusiastic about the videos from the 80s when MTV and commercial success pushed the band into an era of big hair and bigger power ballads.

“It wasn’t as much about the music then, but some of the songs survived really well, though. We still do some of those.”

Last year, Heart unveiled their first album in six years, Red Velvet Car, which was produced by k.d. lang collaborator Ben Mink and saw them return to the hard-rock style of their early days.

Wilson says the band, which will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year, is currently working on another rock opus with Mink.
