From Rolling Stone:

Human beings of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I’m here this evening to induct the Moody Blues into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Moody Blues took me from childhood to adulthood as a disciple; their philosophical, spiritual, romantic and everyday messages were liberating and challenging to my then-forming mind.

The very few boys who took me on dates in those days were instantaneously upstaged if “Nights in White Satin” or “Dawn Is a Feeling” came on the car radio. And when “Legend of a Mind” was played, the date was usually over because the awkward gropings of earthly boys didn’t seem to resonate like that astral plane. More here

  1. Nice post – thanx, @TDHS! Cobalt tights, cobalt shoes, cobalt dress – I’m digging the paparazzi shots and Ann’s style! Let’s talk about the Jerry Cantrell/Ann Wilson guitar/voice duet on Black Hole Sun . . . It takes the prize of performance of the night, to me, though Lauren Hill’s singing was spectacular on her Nina Simone medley. Ann/Jerry get it, but the RRHOF apparently doesn’t – the sound quality sounded bad! Lauren’s singing is angelic in the quiet moments, but for whatever reason the sound people know, but I don’t know, when the drums and other instruments chimed in, speaker sizzle and distortion buried the voice, and hurt my ears. Not the the Rock Hall of Fame, but similar televised concerts through the years. I don’t know if the sound people will be able to fix it for television.

  2. I don’t think saying “it was inevitable… having time apart” is meeting the questions head on, that’s not an answer I think to why this complete “separation” happened between them. That’s my feeling how Ann has handled this. Unfortunate. Nancy, however, has been very clear she reached out multiple times.

I miss Heart, plain & simple.

  4. When I see her say something like “the very few boys who would…” it emphasizes a continuing insecurity on her part. I get it that it was her *reality*, so it could be just being honest, but to say to a whole group of your peers that line – just strikes me as a subconscious revealing of a major lack of self-confidence.
