  1. ANOTHER Greatest Hits comp?! Wow. I worry that too many of these will ‘devalue the brand’ is you will. I thnk if Sony were to do this right, at this point, they should have done a rack list like (IMHO):

    Barracuda
    Crazy On You
    Magic Man
    Little Queen
    Kick It Out
    Love ALive
    Heartless
    Just the Wine
    Straight On
    Dog & Butterfly
    MISTRAL WIND!!
    Bebe le Strange
    Even it Up
    Sweet Darlin’
    City’s Burnin’
    How Can I Refuse
    Hey You
    Wheels
    WTF

    RARE BONUS TRACKS:
    Strange Euphoria
    Hit Single

Anyone else have any thoughts? :-)

I think that would make a great collection of hits from the Sony years past and present.

  2. This is what management said on the official site:

Yep – there is going to be yet another Greatest Hits record released by Sony.

I know what you are thinking… but before you roll your eyes and scoff under your breath (like i did) (hee hee)

Here is the reason why it has been approved.

Most regular music stores have gone away and the record labels are fighting for space on the shelves. Most stores won’t carry a huge selection of music from each artist anymore…but is more likely to carry a series of music. aka – superhits.

This is much like the “love songs” series. Sony put out Love Songs – with many different artists… Superhits will be the same sort of collection.

  3. Right…that makes sense… record companies are going the way of the dinosaur and so is music retail I get the strategy. I just think they need to put more thought into the track listings and content to make these series more of an ‘event’ than just ‘another collection’. Maybe they should do a fan poll first. I have seen many comments of Heart fans frustrated that Mistral Wind is always left off of compilations (one example). There must be a reason… boost D&B album sales??? But there are several live recordings of it.

Anyway, I’m sure there will be more hits off the new album in 2012!!!! :-)
