Billboard.com: Rock legends Def Leppard and Heart occupy the No. 1 slot on Hot Tours as the superstar pairing’s Mirror Ball tour traipsed for four months through the U.S. and Canada during the summer, performing primarily at outdoor amphitheaters and arenas.
The Def Leppard/Heart ranking is based on ticket totals from concerts that occurred from July 27 to Sept. 24. During that time period, show grosses topped $14.5 million from 278,392 sold seats at 32 concerts. Included among the shed and arena dates on the schedule were performances at state fairs in Iowa (Aug. 13), Kentucky (Aug. 19) and Minnesota (Aug. 26). Next on the Def Leppard itinerary are dates booked in Australia in October and Japan in November, followed by a string of U.K. concerts to close out the year. Heart will be on the bill for the Aussie shows through the end of October.
TDHS: The tour sold 278,392 of the available 558,465. Before July 27th they had already played 13 shows since June 15th, so these totals are not for the entire tour.

Yea… with the previous shows not listed I was thinking they were having closer to 350,000 + in total attendance for the summer tour. Not too shabby!! This was the ideal year for me to see Heart: up close and personal at Massey hall in Toronto (whites of their eyes) with 2,700 peeps, then up close and personal (whites of their eyes again) with 16,000 fans behind me at Moslon Amphitheatre. I love them in theatre settings…and love them with huge audiences screaming!!!
Be awesome if Heart does a headline amphitheatre tour next summer to promote their new album! I think 2012 is going to be an even bigger year for them!
Believe it or not. Many Def Lep fans are blaming the 50% capacity sales on Heart. The band that blew Lep off the stage.
Def Lep says they sold almost twice the amount listed here.
