Freddie, ANN, Robert, Stevie…

Ann Wilson

Classics DuJour did a poll for their top 10 classic rock vocalists of all time and Ann came out 2nd. Only Freddie Mercury got more votes (by far actually) and that makes Ann their number 1 female rock vocalist. Robert Plant, Stevie Nicks and Ronnie James Dio complete the top 5.

Classics DuJour: When Heart broke out with their debut album ‘Dreamboat Annie’ in 1976, it was incredibly rare to have women fronting a rock band, but Ann Wilson’s powerhouse voice (along with sister Nancy’s impressive guitar skills) certainly made them a force to be reckoned with. What has earned Ann Wilson the number 2 spot in our poll is her ability to perform a song like “Dreamboat Annie” so beautifully and then turn around and rip into “Barracuda” without missing a beat. “They don’t build them like that anymore,” said Nancy Wilson in reference to her sister’s vocal abilities…and we would have to agree.
