They also introduced a new song — “Red Velvet Car” — a number from an upcoming album that is dedicated to all those friends who will pick you up in the middle of a rainy night because you need them. The song was melancholy and yet sensual, challenging and yet comforting — you could see that velvety car coming to rescue you in the night. This was an unexpected delight from a band who could deliver a whole evening of timeless hits, but obviously they are still creating, still exploring.
“Red Velvet Car” is a lovely homage to a subject seldom explored by rock music — friendship.
