Due to a horde of ´fans´ registering yesterday and today to insult the band, the official BBS has closed temporarily.
Reuters is reporting: Despite the Wilson sisters’ objections, one of the song’s co-writers said he was “thrilled” that the song was used. In an e-mail to Reuters, the band’s former guitarist, Roger Fisher, said it was a win-win situation. Heart gets publicity and royalties, while the Republicans benefit from “the ingenious placement of a kick-ass song,” Fisher said.

As a Canadian, I was shocked that the US Republican’s had the gall to hijack Heart’s song for their campaign.
I hope Nancy’s comments get a lot of press.
I want you to know that, even though my politics are right wing, I have defended Heart on a right-wing web site. I’ll miss them, but I’m glad I have Woodstock to remember them by, as well as 27 other concerts.

Rock on Nancy! People need to understand that by McCain using this song, it IMPLIES that Heart support the party and their agenda…which clearly they don’t. Ann and Nancy have every right to demand a cease and desist.
@ MRL: I think fans would respect the band´s wishes when it comes to their songs, even when they don´t agree with those wishes. It´s their call, not yours. Deal with it.
Ann and Nancy have the right to believe what they want, this is America. They have a right to saw how their music is used. Just because you disagree with them on their beliefs doesn’t mean they are bad people or their music still shouldn’t be listened to. Heart has to take stand and I am with them on this one.

Wow, I came home from work and tried to get on the Heart boards and they were closed. Now I know why. When you hear Barracuda being played You think of Heart. When it’s played at the RNC you think Heart supports the Republican Party and everything that goes with that. They had every right to ask them to cease and desist. Stay strong ladies. It’s really sad that unless you agree you are outcasted. You (heatlinker) and every other heart fan have been no better in your bashings and selfish slants. I love Heart, but I do not agree with their political stand. Ewww does that make me baaaddd. Sure, they had every right to ask any and all parties to not play their song publicly but when they want to make a political stand, they get whats coming because everyone else has a stand as well. And they have a right to it and to express it just as Nancy and Ann did. Ann’s solo cd was SO political!! PLEASE!! Kind of sad but I tried to look beyond her personal views (that she was trying to push on me with her music) and just enjoy the music for what I got out of it and not her suble message. I love Heart but have a horrible disgusting ball in the pit of my stomach not only for all the horrible things that are being said about Ann and Nancy (from those that oppose) but from everyone of you (the fans). No one of you are being any more respectful, on the other side, I see it in your one sided posts. If I went on the fan club and said I diagree or on Ms. Tralwinds new bbs, I would forever be flamed, shut out, and torn down, no better than what you all are accusing the republicans are doing. I see it on the bbs when it isn’t even political. I am real sad over EVERYONES behavior. But it is a presidential race between color and sex now. Because, Obama has NO background and is completely unfit to handle a country by his experience, or lack of. Something the “democrats” are trying to blam Palin for, kind of funny she has more than him, don’t you think? A vice-president has more background than a possible president. I find that very concerning if nothing else.

All I have to say is Ann and Nancy are the best…period. I completely back them 100 percent…It’s their song, and I think the way it was being used made it seem as though they were endorsing Sarah Palin, and the republican campaign…but that all aside i cant wait for the new bootlegs to start appearing…can you imagine how hot barracuda is going to be played after this?! Ann, and Nancy are going to be playing with some “fire in their eyes”, and its just so going to totally rock…WAHOO! rock on ann and nancy!

The core of your message shows respect and tolerance for Ann & Nancy’s choice to confront Palin. You have some critique towards them, but you are not bashing. Congratulations! That means you get published. If you read my comments and posts closely, you know that’s all I asked. Now you also know why 99% of the other posts of republican fans had to be deleted. I respect your choice that you willingly choose to side with that bunch of extremists. What you say about Obama: use your vote wisely. If you think the Reps did a good job these past 8 years, you should vote for them.
Well, i guess your side won. If Heart is too goddamned grand for Sarah Palin, Heart is too goddamned grand for me.
