{"id":2103,"date":"2010-07-15T17:00:24","date_gmt":"2010-07-15T16:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.heartlinker.nl\/?p=2103"},"modified":"2010-07-15T17:03:20","modified_gmt":"2010-07-15T16:03:20","slug":"2nd-review-for-red-velvet-car","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.heartlinker.nl\/?p=2103","title":{"rendered":"2nd review for Red Velvet Car"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 100px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" \" src=\"http:\/\/www.heartlinker.nl\/images\/weblog\/rvccoverjune17.jpg\" alt=\"Red Velvet Car\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Red Velvet Car<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/backstageaxxess.com\/index.php\/cdreviews\/320-heart-and-korn-cd-reviews\" target=\"_blank\">Backstage Axxess<\/a>: Heart will be releasing their 13th studio effort \u2018Red Velvet Car\u2019 on Sony Legacy Records on August 31, 2010 in North America (August 30 in Europe.)\u00a0 Included on the European release are two extra tracks called \u201cBootful of Beer\u201d and \u201cCloser to the Sun.\u201d The band still consists of rock icons Ann and Nancy Wilson<span style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\">, Ben Smith (drums), Craig Bartock (guitar), Debbie Shair (Keyboards) and studio bassist Rik Markmann, who contributed his talents to this album. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\"> The acoustic driven and tambourine shaking \u201c<strong>There You Go<\/strong>\u201d is the first cut from the CD, followed by \u201c<strong>WTF<\/strong>,\u201d which serves as the record\u2019s hardest rocking track. Drummer Ben Smith shows why he has been the backbone of Heart since 1995. He takes charge on this song and drives it where it needs to go.<br style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\" \/> Ann\u2019s sultry voice is masterful on the title tune, \u201c<strong>Red Velvet Car<\/strong>;\u201d a song with soul and sex appeal all rolled up in one. Nancy takes over the lead vocals on \u201c<strong>Hey You<\/strong>\u201d and \u201c<strong>Sunflower<\/strong>.\u201d\u00a0 \u201c<strong>Hey You<\/strong>\u201d is the first radio single that just debuted in the first week of July.\u00a0 The track \u201c<strong>Wheels<\/strong>\u201d offers a more up-tempo experience and lives up to the title as it has a rolling feel which accompanies it. Ann showcases her one-of-a-kind voice on \u201c<strong>Safronias Mark<\/strong>\u201d while Nancy breaks out her mandolin. \u201c<strong>Death Valley<\/strong>\u201d is probably my favorite song on the disc, as the Wilson harmonies flow effortlessly in unison with Nancy\u2019s acoustic prowess.\u00a0<br style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\" \/> This CD takes a different approach than 2004\u2019s \u2018Jupiter\u2019s Darling\u2019 as it\u2019s more of a melodic and easy listening release. The \u201cFirst Sisters of Rock\u201d are at a place were they are able to make the records they want to make. To me, that\u2019s refreshing and honest.
