Special guests Shawn Colvin, Sammy Hagar, Richard Marx and Pat Monahan from Train joined HEART for this once-in-a-lifetime concert which was taped on December 12th 2013 at the beautiful Benaroya Symphony Concert Hall in Seattle. The Wilson sisters performed an array of holiday songs originally written by Joni Mitchell, Harry Nilsson, Bob Dylan and Sammy Hagar in their Christmas set as well as some of HEART’s favorite songs. HEART & FRIENDS: HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS ended a prolific and award-winning year in 2013 for HEART, who have been enjoying a resurgence of popularity since 2010′s “Red Velvet Car”, which became the group’s first Top 10 album in 20 years. Many successful live shows and tours (including a 2011 tour with Def Leppard, and their 2013 “Heartbreaker” tour) have occurred with 2012 seeing the release of “Strange Euphoria”, a definitive career-spanning box set; the arrival of “Kicking and Dreaming: A Story of Heart, Soul, and Rock and Roll”, a best-selling autobiography; the announcement of Ann and Nancy Wilson’s HEART star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the release of Fanatic, HEART’s 14th studio album.

Heartmongers: any guesses?

From management on the official bulletin board.

From management on the official bulletin board.

Added September 2nd 2014: First scoop! “Home for Christmas”, A CHRISTMAS ALBUM! Or at least, that’s what Frontiers Records is releasing in 2014, according to this discography. Frontiers released the CD / DVD /BluRay “Fanatic Live from Ceasars Colosseum“, a live show that was televised on AXS first. Guess where the “Heart & Friends, Home for the Holidays” live show was televised? Seems to be the one as Ann Wilson just gave information on “70s on 7” at Sirius XM: a new album in the works. A DVD at Christmas time called “Heart & Friends”, plus a children’s book called “Dog and Butterfly” (which was already released a few years back, so this might be a rerelease).

Plus we’re still waiting for that documentary!

Added September 20th 2014:
“Frontiers Records have Heart & Friends – Home For Christmascoming for the holidays. The Heart set is slated for November 11.” Source.
“#FBF to 1977 and the Heart classic “Barracuda”! An amazing live rendition of this song will be featured on a special new release we will be putting out by the band in November. Details coming soon!” Source

“Ann and Nancy Wilson decided to usher in the holidays by reaching out to vocalists they sincerely admired (and had always wanted to work with). The result is “Please Come Home for Christmas,” a bluesy holiday love song sung by Ann Wilson and Aaron Neville; and “All Through the Night,” a new take on the Welsh folk carol sung by Nancy Wilson with background vocal support by Richard Marx. Both tracks were produced by 19-time Grammy Award winning musician and producer Emilio Estefan.”

“Please Come Home For Christmas,” with Ann Wilson and Aaron Neville, and “All Through the Night,” with Nancy Wilson and Richard Marx, Coming Tuesday, November 12

NEW YORK, Nov. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Heart fans will have two new reasons to celebrate this year’s holidays with the release of “Please Come Home for Christmas” and “All Through the Night,” the double A-sided digital single from sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson, coming Tuesday, November 12.

Ann and Nancy decided to wrap 2013, a year marked by Heart’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, with a pair of special holiday recordings, each recorded with a singer they’d always admired and wanted to work with.

Nancy, along with producer Emilio Estefan and pianist Shelly Berg, wrote a new arrangement for “All Through the Night,” a traditional Welsh folksong and recorded a sublime contemporary version of the song with backing vocals by Richard Marx.

Ann made one of her own dreams come true with her duet with Aaron Neville on “Please Come Home for Christmas,” a holiday rhythm & blues standard originally a hit for Charles Brown in 1961.

“I have loved Aaron Neville’s amazing, soulful voice since I was a teenager, and it is a great blessing to get this opportunity to sing a duet with him,” Ann said.  “He truly has a gift, and is a sweet person. It shows on this track.”

The arrival of “All Through the Night” and “Please Come Home for Christmas” caps an amazing year for Heart, who’ve been enjoying a resurgence of popularity since 2010’s Red Velvet Car became the group’s first Top 10 album in 20 years.  Many successful live shows and tours (including a 2011 co-headliner with Def Leppard) have ensued with 2012 seeing the release of Strange Euphoria, a definitive career-spanning box set; the arrival of Kicking and Dreaming: A Story of HeartSoul, and Rock and Roll, a best-selling autobiography; and the announcement of Ann and Nancy Wilson’s Heart star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Released in October 2012, Fanatic, Heart’s 14th studio album became the band’s 12th to cross into the Top 25.

Heart was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame by Chris Cornell on April 18, 2013.

This is the third time (first release , first re-release, second re-release and not counting a couple of releases in 08 and 10) the album gets a release on a new label. Do you have the three older ones? Do you have the Japanese digipack release? This new release will be on August 27th 2013 on Sony! The tracklist says it’s the same as the last one, but that raises the question: where are the two newly recorded duets (Aaron Neville and Richard Marx) going, that were rumored to be for a Christmas album?
