Added September 2nd 2017: BestClassicBands: A film about Ann Wilson is being released on DVD later this year. The Heart singer is said to have given filmmaker Criss Cain “exclusive access to her home, rehearsal studio, tour bus and dressing room, in hopes of producing an authentic concert film.” The documentary about one of the greatest female singers in all of classic rock, Ann Wilson / In Focus: A Concert Film, doesn’t have a precise release date yet. But a series of clips with songs and brief interviews have been issued over the past several months.
It’s great to see Ann reinventing herself after Heart.

I used to love their solo ventures, now it’s like a punch in the gut knowing that for some reason, Ann feels they all need therapy in order to proceed… when only Zen Warrior husband is the only one who needs it. It’s like she has been brainwashed by him. I guess that’s love. Until they re-group (if ever) it’s just a constant reminder of how far apart they seem to be.
What’s happening now is a satisfying step musically for both sisters. What happened to the Media-Events concert of, “2?” That and the live capture of Hope and Glory songs with the producer for MTV, speak to me the most of live appearances, which are the only thing that matters in this day of the Voice and publicly posted fan captures.
Save a handful of exceptions, Heart live captures have been dismal, and the volume levels of the other instruments have been drowning Ann’s voice and making her work too hard, and making her hoarser and hoarser. Whatever the reason – and it’s personal. I wasn’t there, and I don’t want anything to do with it. It’s the best thing for us. Ann broke free. And she’s surrounded by musicians at the level she deserves, who deliver an entire experience of sound. Matt Sabin has stepped up his game. I can’t believe switching to wireless mic has the impact it has!
