2012 is really a HEART year!
“Good Old America”, what a great rock song! But I found out that I am a real fan of the first part, because here the rhythm really catches me and it’s hard to sit still. A great electric guitar work is done here and in the following sections of the song! Then, at 1:30, there is a totally speed change and an upcoming guitar thunder and lightning, like a battle. In the last part something inside me wished, that this strong and intensive rhythm from the beginning would return. This catches my senses and let me move!

I Love the HARD RIPPING GUITAR and the CHANGE UP of the Song myself. I think ANNS Voice Is UNREAL when the tempo changes and Craig and Nancy show how hard they can ROCK~~The Beginning is good but i find the Latter part even catchier personally.

Fanatic is INCREDIBLE to me!! And love the way it ends. its almost Hauting !!

Book review of Kicking and Dreaming:

If you are a dedicated Heart fan, this book is a must read. It is a well written chronological history of the facts, of Ann and Nancy Wilsons’ musical careers. It took great courage to list some of these historical facts, especially Ann.

But, this book is written, as if it was edited by TV detective, Joe Friday, of Dragnet. “Just the facts, ma’am.” The emotional tone of the book can be best described as ‘guarded’. The emotional color of Wilsons’ parents are well painted. But the emotional contents of the other personalties drops off, and has the least content for Ann and Nancy. The glimpses of emotion come from the ‘facts’ they describe. The reader is required to gain empathy, by interpreting the facts. Dedicated fans will make this effort; a casual reader may not.

The irony of this is that Heart songs do the opposite. Their songs are bursting with emotion and poetic color, but are short on facts. This is what creates the ‘mystery’ of Heart’s songs. There is an internal emotional life hidden within, that the Wilsons are reluctant to reveal. (And unfortunatly, that is their privilege.)
