Tour? “I cannot say out loud right now”

Ann was interviewed leading up to her last 2018 “Ann Wilson of Heart” tourdate in Wisconsin. She was also in the Seattle local press as her former mansion is on the market again. She sold her house back in 2016 and the current owner has listed the home.

Ann can be seen in the in the SeattleRefinded video below talking about her former house and also looking forward to a possible Heart reunion. On that subject she says: “There’s an urban myth going around that Nancy and I have a big feud going on,” laughed Wilson. “Which we do not. We love each other[but] I cannot say out loud right now that we’re going on tour.” and at Oshkosh Independent Ann touches the subject as well: “Well, I’m not at liberty to discuss that right now. Of course there will be at some time. There is a lot of talk going on right now. We just really can’t announce it yet.”

Keep track of what Ann & Nancy say about their 2019 plans here.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Ann and Nancy Wilson first showed the world that women can rock when their band, Heart, stormed the charts in the ’70’s with hits like “Crazy On You,” “Magic Man,” “Barracuda,” “Straight On,” and so many more.
The show that first aired on VH1 Decades Rock Live back in 2006 finally sees its release on LP/CD/DVD/BluRay – newly mixed and mastered. “Live In Atlantic City” pays tribute to and celebrates the band’s legacy with the help of an incredible range of artists and friends to create one magical night of celebrating music and friendship. And what a night it was!
Part of this musical spectacle were country music star Carrie Underwood, Jane’s Addiction founding member and former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Dave Navarro, country singer-songwriter Gretchen Wilson and Canadian-American singer-songwriter and composer Rufus Wainwright. An exceptional highlight of the show furthermore entails the return of renowned grunge rockers Alice In Chains with Duff McKagan joining his friends on stage! Each guest artist had the chance to perform two or three songs together with the band, for instance Heart’s “Crazy On You“, with Dave Navarro or Alice In Chain’s “Rooster“. A joined performance featuring all of the guest artists of “Barracuda” rounded up a monumental show, which will now finally be released on audio as well as visual formats for the world to enjoy

15 dollars for a machine-made signature

I received my “Immortal” CD purchased on Ann’s own website. Normally a good thing! I was hugely disappointed to discover that indeed it was true: Ann Wilson used an autopen (signing machine) for this release.

Even worse is the ongoing silence from her camp as fans have tried to ask for a solution.

[UPDATED 3 HOURS AFTER POSTING: I’ve received a reply to my email stating “Due to an issue with shipping your international order, we have issued a partial refund of $10.00 USD.” I want to thank Ann for this solution]

For months before the release Ann was advertising a 24,95 dollar pre-order with this exact phrasing: “Special LIMITED Autographed Immortal CD”.

From her official website.

Her most loyal fans jumped on this as many have of them have done so in the past with Heart’s releases. Since September 14th many fans started receiving their signed copy and soon it became clear that the signatures are identical. Many fans on facebook refuse to believe Ann charged money for a fake signature. But that is the case. Other fans say they don’t care about signatures other than the ones that they obtain in person. One could argue to let it go and not post about it, but I’m not accepting this, especially when Ann recently has been proudly saying: “I will never agree to going back out there in a mechanical, money-grab-type way”

The same CD can be bought for around 10 dollars everywhere else, so the extra charge was about 15 dollars. In my case getting this signed copy seemed worth the extra money, even if it also meant paying 15 dollars for shipping to The Netherlands and paying customs an extra 15 dollars. I’m the kind of fan willing to spend that for a signature bought from an official trusted source and apparently I’m the kind of fan her camp tried to target selling machine-made signatures.

Is Ann aware of this? Is her staff doing this without her knowing? I know of one fan that received a response from her staff claiming this was news to them and offering a refund. The fans contacting them since then have yet to receive any word. Some have had their creditcard company intervene. I’ve reached out to Ann’s camp for a comment and asked for a solution. In my case: I’d like a refund for the money she charges more than Amazon which is about 15 dollars. If and when they respond, I’ll update this post. [Please see ABOVE]

How you can see it is autopen:

Below is a picture of two CD’s that were signed by her machine. The machine uses a sharpie and places the signature on different spots, but the two original photos have been placed on top of each other using photoshop. That reveals the signatures are identical.

Below is a picture of three CD’s with the machine made signatures.

Nancy and Ann talking: 2019 TOUR?

NorthWest Music Scene:

Great news Heart fans, it sounds like our beloved Ann and Nancy have been talking and in this current interview with Philadelphia’s classic rock station WMGK, Nancy revealed that talks are underway for a summer 2019 tour.

WMGK’s André Gardner was chatting with Heart’s Nancy Wilson on Wednesday and she told him that she and Ann are talking again and are in the early stages of a HEART reunion tour for 2019!

Added August 2nd 2018: We’ve come to a new conclusion, a happy one you’re hearing here first, in separate interviews with each Wilson sister. To paraphrase Mark Twain, “the reports of Heart’s death are greatly exaggerated.”

“I’ve been reaching out as there are enticing plans on the table for a big tour in 2019,” says Nancy of the hopeful possibilities of a live reunion. “I’d like to figure out what would be exciting and different for both of us going forward.”

“There’s an over-inflated urban myth that Nancy and I are in some sort of big feud,” says Ann. “We worked out our cranky issues a couple of years ago, and have just been enjoying the freedom of time off and doing our solo things.”

When it comes to the future of the Heart band and making that work, each Wilson sounded quietly optimistic.

“We’re not at each other’s throats – won’t wind up doing a Mick and Keith,” says Ann. “No matter what you do or say right, musically, for 40+ years, it’s one negative thing that people latch onto and embroider… She’s my sister. We have a band together, but, we’re both growing, and it will be exciting to see – when we do get back together –what we both learned, expanded and can bring into Heart.”

Nancy has been the busiest field offers related to Heart, a Broadway musical involving producer Rita Wilson (not related, Tom Hanks’ wife) about women’s empowerment and incorporating Heart songs.

“We’re singing Heart songs in the Roadcase Royale set, Liv does them so that you’re hair stand up – so different from Ann whose powerful voice we based Heart on,” says Nancy. “I’m looking to catch Ann’s ear soon – sit down in a room with just her, just us. We should figure out what songs we would do and not, what new and different show we would create. I’m anxious to see how this happens. The fans want this, which is the most important thing.”

New Ann Wilson of Heart PR picture

Press release: BMG are delighted to announce the release of ‘Immortal’, a brand new solo album from Heart legend Ann Wilson, which will be released on 14 September 2018.  The collection features her stunning interpretations of songs from artists that have connected and inspired her.  Taking in a broad sweep of incredible songs like ‘Back To Black’ by Amy Winehouse, ‘I’m Afraid Of Americans’ by Bowie and ‘Luna’ by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.  She also takes on a Chris Cornell song, following her moving tribute to him at the 2018 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony [Ann was inducted with the rest of Heart in 2013].

Ann herself said, “At this point in my life and career, I am happy to be given any opportunities, and I am really, really proud to be doing this album. It’s a project very dear to me – a collection of songs by artists who have departed in the last several years including Leonard Cohen, David Bowie, Tom Petty, Chris Cornell, Amy Winehouse, and George Michael to name a few. I feel these souls have made a real, lasting contribution to the art of the popular song, and to honour them is my deepest pleasure.

“Mike Flicker (Original Heart producer; Dreamboat Annie, Magazine, Little Queen, Dog and Butterfly, Bebe le Strange, etc.) is working with me on this new album. It has been a wonderful experience for me because I’m not only singing, but directing, too. I am able to see the project grow from an idea to a finished song, with no compromises to the original vision. My team and I are not holding back, and you can expect the unexpected on the tracks.  We’ll have some surprise guests on the record, including Jeff Beck, Warren Haynes and Ben Mink.  It has been a thrilling endeavour, and I can’t wait to share the finished album with you in the coming weeks.”

‘Immortal’ is the result of a truly legendary songwriter exploring the work of others, work that has inspired and empowered her over the years.  It’s a personal collection, but one that will resonate with anyone else who believes on the power of music to outlast us all.

The Soundstage Taping from 2005 has been released many times on DVD (and even on Blu-Ray once, worth some money now), but never on CD. So yeah, collectors take notice! It is coming on CD at the end of this month with a DVD.

CD/DVD set:

JOIN HEART, the revolutionary rock band fronted by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson, as they bring passion and energy to an explosive 23-song set that touches on every era of their awe-inspiring career—from Dreamboat Annie’s “Magic Man” and “Crazy On You to the 80s hits “These Dreams” and “Alone.” Rounding out this definitive live performance are tracks from Heart’s studio album, Jupiter’s Darling, plus rare covers of Led Zeppelin’s “Misty Mountain Hop” and Elton John’s “Love Song.”
